SESSION TIPS

Portraiture, Engagement, Business, Headshots, Commercial & Creative:

  • A standard session lasts an hour so come prepared! You don't have to use up all of this time but it's yours. Make sure you've eaten before hand and have plenty of energy! Try not to schedule things directly before and after your session. You never know if you might need more time to get to our location, or if you'll end up wanting more session time past what's scheduled. Try to think of photo sessions as mini occasions that deserve the appropriate time dedicated to them.

  • You're welcome to bring an outfit change! I know that sometimes, one outfit is just not enough! After 2 of them, outfits will be charged to the session, unless you've selected a photo package that specifies otherwise.
  • For outdoor sessions:
please bring sunblock if your burn easily, mosquito repellent if it's that season, and a jacket if weather calls for it.

  • Things to keep in mind:
If you're scheduled to be IN-studio, try to be at least 15-20 minutes early. You might need to fill out forms, change into your outfits, use the bathroom, have questions, need to find parking, etc. If it's an an outdoor session, I recommend arrive at least half an hour early to ensure parking if you've selected a location with limited space.

  • What to bring:
Bring any hairbrushes, hair ties, extra shoes, or accessories for your outfit. Don't forget things like hairspray and makeup! If you have props you want to incorporate, bring em on over! Wedding rings and bands for those who are engaged. For birthdays, you are welcome to bring along toys, balloons, and birthday cakes to smash! Graduating seniors, don't forget things like your cap & gown, your diploma booklet (just the empty book holder if you've already received yours), class rings, varsity jackets, sports gear, musical instruments and more. This is you we're capturing, so bring along your favorite props!

  • Please be vigilant of your children!!!
A.K.A, Do not let them run around, they could break expensive equipment. Do not let them grab things please, I work from home and my home is important to me. If you know they're rowdy, bring someone extra to focus on them. If they are afraid of new people, make sure you've explained the session to them, or even brought someone along who makes them comfortable. If you have a baby who tends to cry when hungry or upset, please make sure you've fed them and have prepared them. Is is not wise to bring in a child for a session during a time where they would normally be eating or sleeping. If the session is delayed because of an uncooperative child, we will take a 15 minute break. After 30 minutes, if the child is still not cooperative, the session will be called off and we will reschedule at no extra cost. After the first reschedule, if the child continues to be uncooperative, you may reschedule as many times as you need to, but there will be a $25.00 rescheduling fee per session.

  • NO OUTSIDE PHOTOGRAPHY during sessions!!!
This is a professional photography service, so please keep other guests from standing behind the photographer when shooting, and please remind guests that there is NO PHOTOGRAPHY allowed during formal sessions. This means guests should not be simultaneously snapping photos of the backdrop or guests, EVEN MORE SO, when the photographer at work!! Cellphones have wireless signals that MESS WITH THE EQUIPMENT!!!!!! ALSO, other informal photography means that they will most likely be in the photographers way; that flashes will go off and ruin your photos, and that subjects will be looking elsewhere when the professional camera goes off. We certainly do not want that.

Wedding & Event Services

  • Event Prep:
This is when I'll get photos of all of your favorite accessories and preparations. Your wedding shoes, that beautiful dress, that pressed black tux. Make sure you have all of your necessary clothing and makeup. If you want your bridesmaids and stylists to be part of the event prep gallery, make sure you've given them notice and invited them to come get ready with you. For weddings, if you're hoping to photograph the bride's prep AND the groom's prep, make sure you don't plan on getting ready at the exact same minute, otherwise I can't photograph both of you. It's traditional for the bride and groom to not see each other until the wedding, which means you both need to have a separate time frame for getting ready so that the prep photography can be shot.

  • Ceremony:
The majority of the photos will be centered on the ceremony itself, however, this a great opportunity to photograph the flower girl, the ring bearer and the groom awaiting his bride. With the exception of the bride (you gotta make your entrance!) it is wise to have anyone who is participating in the wedding ceremony to arrive a little early so that they can be photographed before it actually begins.

  • Celebrity Sessions:
The celebrity session is usually right after the ceremony. It includes the main people of the event. For weddings, this includes the bride(s), groom(s), bridesmaids, the best man, and the IMMEDIATE family (mother, father, siblings, & offsprings).

  • Reception:
The reception is the big party! You can choose to have it filmed, or you can choose photography. If you choose photography, think about whether you'd rather have candid or formal photography. Candid includes photos of people as they are: talking, eating, dancing, etc. Formal photos include a backdrop in a designated area, similar to a red carpet event. You can have your guests posing with each other, or you can use this as your opportunity to finally get an individual photo with everyone who attended!

My sessions are focused, they are private, so you won't have another client rushing you, and they are relaxed. They're all about YOU and making sure you have a great time. If I've done my job right, you won't even feel like you're in a "session."  I absolutely love meeting new meeting clients and seeing their faces after a shoot. There is nothing like seeing someone see a photo of themselves and actually smiling---enjoying it. As humans, society conditions us to often be displeased with who we are and how we look and I love capturing beauty and excitement through my lenses. I understand that photography is so much more than clicking the shutter button. It's about capturing those fleeting moments we can't get back. It's about composing the best photo when you have to, and freezing the perfect moment when it's candid. I'm interested in getting you what you want and creating photography that you are proud to share.
